How to use a Central Vacuum System

Instead of carrying a portable vacuum cleaner around with you, you only carry a hose around with you from room to room, and with certain central vacuum systems you do not even need to do that.  And instead of plugging into a wall outlet, you plug into a central vacuum inlet, it’s that easy!

To plug into your inlet is actually a lot like plugging into a power outlet.  You open the cover to the inlet, plug the hose into the hole, ensure it is properly locked in, then flip the power switch to begin using the central vacuum system. Once you are plugged in, you can begin to clean your home. Now remember, central vacuum systems are much quieter than traditional upright systems, so just because you can’t hear it doesn’t mean it isn’t working. If you’re concerned you don’t have power, run it over some dirt to make sure it picks it up.

As you are vacuuming, remember to make use of all of your attachment for the various surfaces. For instance, use the upholstery attachment for upholstery; the carpet attachment won’t be nearly as effective.  Similarly, use a brush when cleaning grates or tough surfaces, and the floor brush on hard wood or tile. You have the flexibility of the hose attachments of a traditional upright vacuum for all the cleaning you do in your home, and on a much larger scale.

Lastly, don’t forget to check your central canister every so often to ensure it is not overloaded. And as you can see, it is quite simple.
